2017 Trip to Sweden

I was so fortunate to win the 2017 raffle and decided to share a trip to Sweden with Jan Nichols and Pam Cash-Roper. We stayed Areairport.jpgin a summer resort on a beautiful lake in Åre, Sweden, for a week. Our modern two-bedroom apartment included a fireplace, complete kitchen, and a sauna. Breakfast was a fabulous smorgasbord, and local restaurants and our favorite bakery kept us well fed. We now have a passion for lingonberries! Sweden is a beautiful country, with amazing scenery—crystal blue lakes, an extraordinary waterfall set against deep green fir forests, and wildflowers everywhere. We also enjoyed a day trip to Trondheim, Norway, site of the northernmost Gothic cathedral in Europe. Our vacation ended with several days in Stockholm, where we toured several museums, including an exhibit devoted to the Vaasa ship, which was built in 1628 but sank in the harbor on its maiden voyage and was only recently restored. We watched the changing of the guard at the Palace and visited Skansen, the world’s oldest open-air museum, showcasing reconstructed dwellings from different parts of Sweden and an animal park that is home to moose, reindeer, lemurs, and black bears.

I bought my raffle tickets to support the important work of the Chatham County Democratic Party, never imagining that I would win, much less be able to share a wonderful trip with two friends who have given so much of their volunteer time to making sure that we elect Democrats up and down the ballot. Support Chatham’s Democrats by buying a raffle ticket for yourself. Buy several. You could become the next winner of the trip of a lifetime!

CCDP will contact winners within 48 hours of the drawing to start the process of claiming your trip!
