AD_Flint_Quote_2.jpgThe Chatham County Democratic Party is excited to present a monthly series of movies on important issues.  We hope you will be able to join us on Saturday, August 26th for Something in the Water, an episode from the America Divided series, at the Pittsboro Roadhouse.  Entry is free.  The Road House menu will be available if you want to order lunch or a snack.

While most people are aware of the basic contours of the Flint water story, America Divided goes deeper. Correspondent Rosario Dawson investigates how a government could poison its own citizens, what hidden forces may have been at work, and how specific policies unique to Michigan, led not only to the crisis in Flint but also damaged other poor, largely African American communities around the state.

Doors open at 12:30, Movie at 12:45.  Run time approximately 60 minutes.

Lisa_Sorg.pngLisa Sorg will join us to lead a discussion of this issue after the film.  Lisa has been the Environmental Reporter with NC Policy Watch since July 2016. She covers environmental issues, including social justice, pollution, climate change and energy policy. Before joining the project, Lisa was the editor and an investigative reporter for INDY Week, covering the environment, housing and city government. She has been a journalist for 22 years, working at magazines, daily newspapers, digital media outlets and alternative newsweeklies.

CCDP supports CORA Food Pantry.  We will be collecting donations of food for CORA at each screening.   Here is a list of most needed items.

Information on viewing these selections at home or having your own group showing is here.
